Nutritional Immunology Amino Acid Modulation
Allergy, Auto-immunity, & Premature Aging
Rationale. Researchers have long been aware of the role that immunology plays in allergy, autoimmune diseases, and aging. Immunology’s role in diseases and conditions not previously recognized as immune system based has become more recently understood. Many factors can adversely affect the normal modulation of the immune system. Such factors include environmental exposures, drug therapies, toxins, bacteria, viruses, genetic predispositions, emotional stress and other factors that are yet unknown. The ensuing immune related derangements lead to maladaptive inflammation that underlies many conditions. Immune mis-modulation results in symptoms ranging from painful joints, to tiredness, to depression and feelings of impaired well being.
Immune mis-modulation plays a major role in the progression of a wide spectrum of diseases including allergic rhinitis, asthma, lupus, chronic hepatitis, atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, atherosclerosis, cancer and premature degeneration associated with aging. Amino acid immune modulators may be used to nutritionally aid the body to block abnormal bodily responses triggered by immune system derangements.
Properly selected and prepared nutritional substances may be used to favorably nourish the modulation of imbalances of the nervous, the digestive, and other bodily systems inclusive of the immune system.
Glossary
Allergy: An abnormally high sensitivity to certain substances, such as pollens, foods, or microorganisms. Common indications of allergy may include sneezing, itching, and skin rashes.
Autoimmunity: Autoimmune disease develops when the body's immune system is not able to distinguish normal (self) tissue from potentially harmful foreign (non-self) invaders that it ordinary attacks, such as virus. In autoimmunity the immune system mal-adaptively attacks and attempts to destroy normal (self) tissues as if they are foreign (non-self) enemies. For example, in rheumatoid arthritis (self) joints are attacked. Approximately150 autoimmune diseases are recognized.
Modulation: The functional and morphological fluctuation of tissue cells in response to changing environmental conditions.
Naturally occurring amino acids: also known as the building blocks of protein, are basic chemical units which can act as messenger molecules or combine to form relatively small molecules called peptides and relatively large ones called proteins.
Premature Aging: the accelerated process of maturing with increased prevalence of health problems generally associated with older chronological age; accelerated loss of youthfulness.
Sequence: the order of composition of constituents.
Disclosure: The FDA has not approved the therapeutic use of such amino acid based health strategies. The FDA is not charged with approving how doctors practice medicine and does not routinely approve or disapprove the non-commercial therapeutic use of nutritional molecular substances. |
